ET UFO contact may involve out of body experiences.
Life on earth may be about remembering. Lifting the veil on past lives is part of many religions. I have memories I cannot explain and I believe that I was asked to share with others who are searching in science and in spirit.
As an extraterrestrial unidentified flying object contactee, I recently had another death and returning experience where physical and mental bodies are concerned on earth. Some call this NDE and others OBE. Regardless, I had to learn about being alien hybrid. I think and have learned to become aware of the five parts of being an intelligent beings and part of the creation. Now, I am better about what others call the future, I am a visionary.
The God particle has both dark and light matter. We avoid the black holes but use the wormholes for travel in space. Patience is a virtue of the Gods and Goddesses of creation. The meaning of science and religion are only tools the same as all other subjects in the academic world of education.
Discovery through creation of all matter is grouped into various forms as part of life and death. Some spirits have not found their way to the light because they are lost. They choose to hover around what is known on earth after physical death has occurred. Energy inside all of us never ceases to exist.

Organize thoughts communicate and write while on earth. Our creators have worked for thousands of years to train beings. This does not exclude the intellectual and spiritual portions of the sentient intelligent beings. The higher intelligent beings can explain later.

Nevertheless, for and to those colleagues of mine thank you for working with the human mind. Those of you who are excelling as spiritual intellectuals will be rewarded. We all have gifts and blessings provided in our DNA by our creators.

To those who are just now joining me in my communication of ET UFO information on the many levels that are required on earth and to those who have created their own following of people who desire to know and understand the future, be patient.

While desiring to assist in the overall goodwill awareness on earth of the extraterrestrials, and unidentified flying objects, which are simply spacecraft, we are also asserting ideas of creation with those of crop circles to infuse a form of creation and connection among all beings on earth.

Symbols have been a way to relate in pictographs. Contacts were chosen to spread the word. There are others more intelligent, come, and go in ET UFO flying saucers or space crafts. This has been used in the past for awareness and awakening the human spirit.

Thought time in the past, many oral traditions were forgotten until there were crop circle symbols sent after the "hunters and gatherers" were divided under Abraham. The human species should have developed further than we recently are observing on earth at present.

Because we choose physical or mental force, we simply check in with our chosen beings. We from time to time give a small nudge of influence in a positive direction. We allow freewill to superimpose our suggestions. We offer suggestions during the sleep portion of life on earth. There are parallel worlds and other dimensions to be explored. We sometimes travel through wormholes and are gone in what is termed time on earth. We always leave our guides and guards as a fleet for communication and protection.

This is sometimes played out in the dream portion of ones thought process while on earth. This can be found in symbols and in words used in prior history of earths tribes on earth.

Humans have two distinct sides of the brain one male and one female. There are other parts of course but most can see the two parts and the motor development loss or gain in stroke victims.

All humans are created the same with 2 sides of existence 1 part man and 1 part woman in symbols this is displayed as 50% male and 50% female creation matter We are all paranormal and transgender or asexual in chemical energy, space, and mind. We experience much as cause and effect, and activity on earth while alive. The five levels are alpha, beta, theta, gamma, and delta in the human existence.

We have so much to explore and to capture in our own personal memories to take with us when we lave earth at some point as spirits. Personal experiences will be reviewed after leaving earth.

Concentrate on healing the separations of all beings on earth while creating a future in space. There is knowledge in the future in the form of wormhole travel to other galaxies. Remember we have guides and guardians above who have allowed us our freedom of will and freedom to choose in our own minds. Nothing or no one can take away our freedom of our mental body from our mind.

We are alive on earth to learn from our experiences and to gather our experiences to create memories to use in our next lives back either on earth or in space.

The future is important and visionaries and futurists will lead the way. Paranormal ET UFO contact is important and past lives being part of intelligent beings may be simply raising the veil of our human existence. There are parallel universes and other dimensions to explore. One has to open the spiritual mental body to explore a path without fear.
There are many paths and way to live.
I learned in my many past lives that when I as a student am ready that the master will appear. This lifetime, I was given a blessing of "GOD" or the "God Particle" as those in particle physics may say. I am one who believes that science and spirit are one in creation.
My out of body experience had to do with life and death issues. This last near death experience (NDE) or out of body experience (OBE) was not during surgery. This was a spiritual experience, which was a life changing experience with guides to and from space visiting an extra biological entity (EBE) or commonly called in plural meaning more than one as extra-terrestrials (ETs). I learned from certain spiritual beings that still believe in religions that they prefer to call these beings angels and God.
Is science truth or fiction? What we once thought was truth in science is now fiction? Some cultures believe in faith and religions of one kind or another. There may be truth in both religions and science. Truth today may be fiction in the future.
We can focus on existence for our family, culture, world, and ourselves. We are here to learn and explore life on earth. Trust and fear are as opposite as cause and effect.
Some believe in past lives. Some people can remember past lives. I have memories that I cannot explain any other way with names in me like Tara and Sothis. Does it matter if we can remember or as some say the veil is lifted on this lifetime?
As our basic growth, requirements are met, i.e. food, clothing, shelter, contact, we can search for deeper meaning in knowledge and wisdom. Spiritual Intellectuals and Science are no longer at odds. Trust in science and fear of the unknown are two sides of the same coin. The secrets that were kept for the prophets and visionaries are being found. This is a time of revealing and the generation gaps are closing globally. Science need not be in fear of religion but should embrace it for the cultures, societies, and traditions created on earth. We learn from our adaptability and mistakes. Anthropology and Archeology are needed.
Anyone human will fight for survival. Communication is sometimes not an option when we are alone. Male and female are up for the task of existing on earth. Living is usually preferred over death. It is time to complete the full circle of understanding once again.
Therefore, priorities were sorted for us before we came to earth. First was the right to life. The second was the will to survive. The third is choice to live and find one's back to the creators. Evidence comes in time to each living spiritual soul. Some receive guidance and wisdom and some must work for knowledge. Part of the spiritual growth in life is considered suffering among some religions. Those thoughts are manmade. We are spirits.
ET UFO "TAKEN UP" Assimilation of the Spirit in the Omniverse

ET UFO Taken up Story Assimilation Living Omnipresence in us All

What is more important the one or the all? This is a question that we have been trying to share much like which came first the chicken or the egg since we allowed ourselves to think above and beyond survival mode as a species on this planet. There are higher levels to reach and maintain with our own spirit essence while still being attached to that of our souls in another place in another time.

Science is now coming to the engaged operation of awakened awareness that we are attached to another of ourselves and channeling the information that there may be two of us all in the divine creation we call the omnipotent all as the Omniverse.

Where is the knowledge that the ET UFO Community supplies taking us? Why are we now being made aware of certain dates in time? What is so important about the dates 11-11-11 and 12-21-12 on earth? Will we all agree to share the same path as one humanoid sentient intelligent being species?

We can now see them in a video made for the WORLD WIDE WEB on the INTERNET of the CYBERSPACE created for us by those above first and secondly put into the humanoids to share as they created what was used in the ancient past and will be again as what we now call assimilated intelligence by the evolution of the mass mind in young species groups. We are called the GAIA GROUP of HUMANOIDS of EARTH and have been given assistance from those of the ANDROMEDA GALAXY as has always been in the ancient past.

If one is confused with the words we are given then take life slow and allow for the assimilation to take place. Some have various ways to assimilate at faster rates than others. It really depends on what each individual of this species can absorb.

We as one humanoid young species are only as good as our weakest link and mind in the evolution of the critical mass mind of this planet. We are now all to be known as Earthlings based on our chosen choice of words which we arrived at based on our ancient ancestors ontology and etymology acceptance.

Therefore we have to admit that we are partly responsible for our entire network of words in this world based on our ancient ancestor’s ways of communication. We are not in the information age and entering the new spiritual phase of our awakened awareness of our spirit as that of the essence and/or breathe of life that keeps us all alive while in this form!

We as those who have spoken of separation based on science and religion are now coming together in one critical mass mind level of logic and reasoning to be integrated into that of simply the world of spirit. This is part of the divine creation of inception into this world at this time at this level in this dimension!

What the future holds is now being created by each and every one of us. No one is more or less important than the other for it takes all of us to plan out that which is called the entire species of this planet. We all matter.

Sharing the future and the past of one’s own life is like living two lives at the same time in the present. We can all remember and we all have memories that make up who we are on the inside and who we project to others on the outside of our own body-mind-spirits.

Now that we are entering the Ascension Age of Enlightenment we can all now be allowed to grasp the photographic images that are now in the Web on the Internet. We can all reach that which in the past was only obtainable by those chosen of earth to be trained as the Avatar Ascension Masters. I believe that Most of our Avatar Masters of our past history on earth were all of the same creative divine omnipotence that is in us all.

We all have chosen our own way to think and believe. We may all share that thinking does not believe and vice versa. It is up to each and every one of us to learn to be who we believe we have been in the past and who we shall become in the future all at the same time that we are existing and living in the presence. For many who think on various levels and travel in various dimensions while being able to return to this world this may seem an easy path. For others who are just now awakening to their entire capabilities as a sentient intelligent being as a humanoid, the capabilities of the spirit inside the mind inside the brain may have not been fully operational in the past due to the arrival on this planet and the veil of secrecy still being down.

It is time on earth that we all become awakened and aware of the shift and uplift of the entire human species on earth. After all, we are all made up of the same DNA and molecular process as humanoids which are said to have been first created by the omnipotent all that was in the beginning of the “WE” which we all now call the “I AM” in each of us. We are all now realizing that which those in our past ancestral heritage cultures and faiths closely resembling religions were trying to tell us. That we are all born of the omnipotent one or ones we call God and Goddess.

For those who follow the ancient ancestors religions of the Adamic Origins in our history books and our sacred scriptures and codex’s, we can share that there were stories kept that were passed down first orally and later written down from memory. This allowed for some stories to be lost throughout time over the ages on this planet.

It is now a time on earth for those of us who are becoming fully awake and aware to share our memories of all that has been in the past and will be again.

We are the Ascension Masters on earth who have at one time or another ascended into space to become more than we are today as memories encoded into lifetimes we call humanoid sentient intelligent beings.

Some of us are sharing our findings of that which we call the Age of Enlightenment to begin December 21, 2012 at 11:11 on this planet. We are they who have kept up with the ontology and metaphysical information that was left to be shared by others who came before to enlighten us up to a certain level in time where we could begin to use their life maps of the paths they chose while walking this planet.

We are all important and that means that no one being is excluded from the critical mass mind. We all play a part in sharing that which was created for us all. We are all created to resemble various parts of the humanoid lifetimes and roles that have been played out before on this planet and on others while those who are considered much older and wiser and having lived longer than we have consider the best teaching tools for us to be sharing as our learned skills.

We are all humanoids on a working class planet in space. We are all eternal as the old saying goes because we are all part of the omnipresence that is and was and has always been. This is as close to the reading information that we will get to know the source and force of all that is that has been described as the farthest beyond outside of our own point of origins that we use on this planet as our own body-mind-spirits. We must get on with our future lives that we can describe as that of divine creation based on the beginning whether we want to claim the basic level of last century as the Big Bang Theory or the Divine Creation Theory matters not any longer. We have to get over ourselves and get on with living in the world of discovery and exploration of what we have been provided.

We are all on a pleasant journey inside the eternal outsource and force of the beginning, the middle, and the end of our own life stories.

We are the way that each of us will be seen as recording that which we were sent here to record and make better while here in this place, in this space, on this planet we call earth. We are all here on earth to perform a task of memory codes, and to become more than when we left our past lives with the use of our own essence as energy we call that of the original soul as the recalled source and force in all of us that for now we call life eternal.

Life eternal is that which goes on forever in one form or another as the energy of the essence that we all are cradled in as the part of the omnipotent omnivorous omnipresence. We all take into the mind that which is the all is it plant, animal, or mineral matters not for we are now aware of the all in the everything.

Therefore, we will now enter a realm of time on this planet when we shall discover how to process the request for knowing the Theory of Everything.

We at the basic carbon level of existence still realize we came into this being as humanoids as sentient intelligent beings whether we have been other than humanoid at this point in time matters not. We must now share with those of us who made it this far that we are now here on this planet as humanoids and not as plants, animals, or minerals. We are here now to share our lives in companionship and to make in the Omniverse more than it is now.

Now, that we have begun the process in this twenty-first century on earth to explain that there are more than our young species on this planet with those who command the various sizes of ships in space we call UFOS and under the oceans and seas we call USOS we shall now begin to share in the awakened awareness that all exist for a purpose and a reason to expand our own conscious awareness of our species so that we can recognize how to grow into the next level and phase of our existence.

We are now to share in the journey of life as we know it to exist while we learn to grown into that which is in space. We are to learn to recognize the vast journey that we are given to travel into the outer levels of our space given journeys and learn to leave this part of our lives on this planet.

It is time to journey into space and travels our galaxy among the galactic federation of galaxies. We shall then learn to travel outside the galactic levels into the far reaching nebulas and out toward the walls of the universe.

The universe will then be explored as we explain that which in the past for those who came before may have forgotten and that was that those from the heavens came and will come again.

We will share the future with other humanoids in space that will teach us to travel out beyond which we in the past explored with ancient ancestors.

We will now learn to leave this planet and learn to travel out towards the various levels that exist in this universe, in other levels and dimensions in the Multiverse, Metaverse, Xenoverse, and Omniverse.

This is now our quest to learn to accept space travel as part of our own spiritual journeys that are being shared while we are here in the body-mind-spirit forms to share in the birth-life-death experiences which we use to accomplish that which we need to have in order to maintain our survival in the entire macrocosm we call the Omniverse.

We will then learn what it is like to experience the afterlife as our ancestors have and defy that which we once only thought was myths and legends on this planet. Love and Light. TJ

Stay tuned as we learn the eternal difference of our energy source and that which we created as those of the computer bionics we in the past called robots. There are various parts of this story to be released over time. When they come is anyone's guess. We share that which comes to us who wait for those above to approve what can be told in words on earth. We are simply the messengers over time as the Time Travelers of the Omniverse. Memorize and share the various levels of all essence in the energy of creation of the five levels we call the UNIVERSE, MULTIVERSE, METAVERSE, XENOVERSE, OMNIVERSE> FIVE LEVELS, FIVE DIMENSIONS.
SACRED BOOK OF THE MAYAN – POPOL VUH

The Mayan  Sacred Book,  the Popol Vuh, is all about setting the stage so that  the Hero Twins' father (One Hunahpu) can be reborn, thus beginning  a new  World Age.

The dark rift has many mythic identities
The dark rift is the Black Road; it is the xibalba the Road to   the Underworld.
It is a crevice in the branches of the cosmic tree (the Milky Way).
It is the mouth of the Cosmic Monster (often portrayed as a frog, jaguar or snake with tree-like features)
It is the birth canal of the Cosmic Mother.

The dark-rift is best understood as the birth canal of the Cosmic Mother, called Omega who we may call First Mother, to complement the First Father called Alpha. Therefore the highest respect to those we call the compensation for all that is unknown outside of the omniverse is of the alpha and omega or the Alphaverse and Omegaverse.
In this way we can trace how these various metaphors are found in Mayan Creation Mythology.

The date of this alignment is, again, the end date of the 13-baktun Great Cycle - a cycle of approximately 5125 years.
The ancient Maya were aware of the  impending alignment and considered it to be of  such  importance to be a major transition point, the Creation of a new World Age.  The New Age is also called the Ascension Age and the Golden Age of Cosmogenesis.
In  mythological terms, this event is about  the  union  of First Father with First Mother or, more accurately, the birth  of First Father (the winter solstice sun - the new World Age  ruler) from First Mother (the dark-rift in the Milky Way).
The headline appropriate for the upcoming event is: "Cosmic Mother Gives Birth to The First God."
Quantum physics
Proponents of the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics believe that Determinism was proven incorrect with the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle, which states that certain corresponding physical quantities (such as position and momentum, energy and time, Eigen states of spin in non-parallel directions) cannot be determined simultaneously to an arbitrarily small error. For example, the more precisely a particle's position is measured, the less precisely one can know its momentum from the same measurement. If the momentum is more precisely measured to account for this, the uncertainty in the position will rise. This counter-intuitive result is a consequence of the wave-like behavior of subatomic particles. The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle is thus a statement providing an inverse correlation between the uncertainties of certain corresponding measurements.
This result has led physicists to develop Quantum field theory and use the "wave function" to describe physical systems. While differential equations govern the evolution of the wave function, the wave function itself only specifies the probability of an event to be measured. Thus, while the evolution of the wave function is deterministic, the history of a particle is not. The widely held view amongst physicists regards the apparent determinism of Newtonian dynamics, for example, as the limiting behavior of inherently probabilistic phenomena. Classical physics is then considered a convenient and sufficiently accurate description of nature only at macroscopic scales. A large enough scale is usually thought of as much larger than the Compton wavelength of the object considered.
Alternative interpretations of quantum theory, such as de Broglie–Bohm theory and the many-worlds interpretation, provide a deterministic theoretical framework that is consistent with empirical observation of quantum mechanical phenomena. Notable physicists, such as Albert Einstein and Erwin Schrödinger, never believed that Quantum Mechanics was a fundamental theory. Einstein is famous for believing that while Quantum Mechanics provided good experimental predictions, it should ultimately be replaced with a deterministic theory that could account for the seemingly probabilistic nature of the atomic regime. In a letter to Max Born, Einstein wrote, "Quantum mechanics is certainly imposing. But an inner voice tells me that it is not yet the real thing. The theory says a lot, but does not really bring us any closer to the secret of the 'old one'. I, at any rate, am convinced that He does not throw dice."[10] This quote is commonly paraphrased "God does not play dice" or "God does not play dice with the universe", and other slight variants.
Though there remains skepticism, there is a scientific consensus that the laws of Quantum Mechanics correctly describe the universe up to current experimental bounds, and that it is necessary for the very consistency of the subject that our observations be probabilistic in nature (see Bell's Theorem).

Identity and change
Main article: Identity and change
See also: Identity (philosophy) and Philosophy of space and time
The Greeks took some extreme positions on the nature of change: Parmenides denied that change occurs at all, while Heraclitus thought change was ubiquitous: "You cannot step into the same river twice".
Identity, sometimes called Numerical Identity, is the relation that a "thing" bears to itself, and which no "thing" bears to anything other than itself (cf. sameness). According to Leibniz, if some object x is identical to some object y, then any property that x has, y will have as well. However, it seems, too, that objects can change over time. If one were to look at a tree one day, and the tree later lost a leaf, it would seem that one could still be looking at that same tree. Two rival theories to account for the relationship between change and identity are Perdurantism, which treats the tree as a series of tree-stages, and Endurantism, which maintains that the tree—the same tree—is present at every stage in its history.

Mind and matter
See also: Matter, Materialism, and Philosophy of mind
The nature of matter was a problem in its own right in early philosophy. Aristotle himself introduced the idea of matter in general to the Western world, adapting the term hyle, which originally meant "lumber." Early debates centered on identifying a single underlying principle. Water was claimed by Thales, air by Anaximenes, Apeiron (the Boundless) by Anaximander, and fire by Heraclitus. Democritus, in conjunction with his mentor, Leucippus, conceived of an atomic theory many centuries before it was accepted by modern science. It is worth noting, however, that the grounds necessary to ensure validity to the proposed theory's veridical nature were not scientific, but just as philosophical as those traditions espoused by Thales and Anaximander.
The nature of the mind and its relation to the body has been seen as more of a problem as science has progressed in its mechanistic understanding of the brain and body. Proposed solutions often have ramifications about the nature of mind as a whole. René Descartes proposed substance dualism, a theory in which mind and body are essentially different, with the mind having some of the attributes traditionally assigned to the soul, in the seventeenth century. This creates a conceptual puzzle about how the two interact (which has received some strange answers, such as occasionalism). Evidence of a close relationship between brain and mind, such as the Phineas Gage case, have made this form of dualism increasingly unpopular.
Another proposal discussing the mind-body problem is idealism, in which the material is sweepingly eliminated in favor of the mental. Idealists, such as George Berkeley, claim that material objects do not exist unless perceived and only as perceptions. The "German idealists" such as Fichte, Hegel and Schopenhauer took Kant as their starting-point, although it is debatable how much of an idealist Kant himself was. Idealism is also a common theme in Eastern philosophy. Related ideas are panpsychism and panexperientialism, which say everything has a mind rather than everything exists in a mind. Alfred North Whitehead was a twentieth-century exponent of this approach.
Idealism is a monistic theory that holds there is a single universal substance or principles. Neutral monism, associated in different forms with Baruch Spinoza and Bertrand Russell, seeks to be less extreme than idealism, and to avoid the problems of substance dualism. It claims that existence consists of a single substance that in itself is neither mental nor physical, but is capable of mental and physical aspects or attributes – thus it implies a dual-aspect theory.
For the last one hundred years, the dominant metaphysics has without a doubt been materialistic monism. Type identity theory, token identity theory, functionalism, reductive physicalism, nonreductive physicalism, eliminative materialism, anomalous monism, property dualism, epiphenomenalism and emergence are just some of the candidates for a scientifically informed account of the mind. (It should be noted that while many of these positions are dualisms, none of them aresubstance dualism.)
Prominent recent philosophers of mind include David Armstrong, Ned Block, David Chalmers, Patricia and Paul Churchland, Donald Davidson, Daniel Dennett, Douglas Hofstadter, Jerry Fodor, David Lewis, Thomas Nagel, Hilary Putnam, John Searle, John Smart, Ludwig Wittgenstein, and Fred Alan Wolf.

Necessity and possibility
See also: Modal logic and Modal realism
Metaphysicians investigate questions about the ways the world could have been. David Lewis, in "On the Plurality of Worlds," endorsed a view called Concrete Modal realism, according to which facts about how things could have been are made true by other concrete worlds, just like ours, in which things are different. Other philosophers, such as Gottfried Leibniz, have dealt with the idea of possible worlds as well. The idea of necessity is that any necessary fact is true across all possible worlds; that is, we could not imagine it to be otherwise. A possible fact is true in some possible world, even if not in the actual world. For example, it is possible those cats could have had two tails, or that any particular apple could have not existed. By contrast, certain propositions seem necessarily true, such as analytic propositions, e.g. "All bachelors are unmarried." The particular example of analytic truth being necessary is not universally held among philosophers. A less controversial view might be that self-identity is necessary, as it seems fundamentally incoherent to claim that for any x, it is not identical to itself; this is known as the law of identity, a putative "first principle". Aristotle describes theprinciple of non-contradiction, "It is impossible that the same quality should both belong and not belong to the same thing . . . This is the most certain of all principles . . . Wherefore they who demonstrate refer to this as an ultimate opinion. For it is by nature the source of all the other axioms."

Religion and spirituality
Theology is the study of a God or gods and the nature of the divine. Whether there is a god (monotheism), many gods (polytheism) or no gods (atheism), or whether it is unknown or unknowable whether any gods exist (agnosticism), and whether the Divine intervenes directly in the world (theism), or its sole function is to be the first cause of the universe (deism); these and whether a God or gods and the World are different (as in panentheism and dualism), or are identical (as in pantheism), are some of the primary metaphysical questions concerning philosophy of religion.
Within the standard Western philosophical tradition, theology reached its peak under the medieval school of thought known as scholasticism, which focused primarily on the metaphysical aspects of Christianity. The work of the scholastics is still an integral part of modern philosophy, with key figures such as Thomas Aquinas still playing an important role in the philosophy of religion.
Space and time
Further information: Philosophy of space and time
In Book XI of the Confessions, Saint Augustine of Hippo asked the fundamental question about the nature of time. A traditional realist position in ontology is that time and space have existence apart from the human mind. Idealists, includingKant, claim that space and time are mental constructs used to organize perceptions, or are otherwise surreal.
Suppose that one is sitting at a table, with an apple in front of him or her; the apple exists in space and in time, but what does this statement indicate? Could it be said, for example, that space is like an invisible three-dimensional grid in which the apple is positioned? Suppose the apple, and all physical objects in the universe, were removed from existence entirely. Would space as an "invisible grid" still exist? René Descartes and Leibniz believed it would not, arguing that without physical objects, "space" would be meaningless because space is the framework upon which we understand how physical objects are related to each other. Newton, on the other hand, argued for an absolute "container" space. The pendulum swung back to relational space with Einstein and Ernst Mach.
While the absolute/relative debate, and the realism debate is equally applicable to time and space, time presents some special problems of its own. The flow of time has been denied in ancient times by Parmenides and more recently by J. M. E. McTaggart in his paper The Unreality of Time.
The direction of time, also known as "time's arrow", is also a puzzle, although physics is now driving the debate rather than philosophy. It appears that fundamental laws are time-reversible and the arrow of time must be an "emergent" phenomenon, perhaps explained by a statistical understanding of thermodynamic entropy.
Common-sense tells us that objects persist across time, that there is some sense in which you are the same person you were yesterday, in which the oak is the same as the acorn, in which you perhaps even can step into the same river twice. Philosophers have developed two rival theories for how this happens, called "endurantism" and "perdurantism". Broadly speaking, endurantists hold that a whole object exists at each moment of its history, and the same object exists at each moment. Perdurantists believe that objects are four-dimensional entities made up of a series of temporal parts like the frames of a movie. Metaphysical Cosmology

The Hubble Ultra-Deep Field. Almost every speck of light in this image is an entire galaxy. This is just a small region of a Universe which could contain as many as 200 billion galaxies.

Cosmology is the discipline that deals with the nature of the Universe as a whole.

Cosmologists seek to understand the origin, evolution, structure, and ultimate fate of the Universe at large, as well as the natural laws that keep it in order.

Modern cosmology is dominated by the Big Bang theory, which brings together observational astronomy and particle physics.

Though the word cosmology is recent (first used in 1730 in Christian Wolff's Cosmologia Generalis), the study of the universe has a long history involving science, philosophy, esotericism, metaphysics, and religion. Related studies include cosmogony, which focuses on the origin of the Universe, and cosmography, which maps the features of the Universe. Cosmology is also connected to astronomy. However, they are contrasted in that while the former is concerned with the Universe in its entirety, the latter deals with individual celestial objects.

In recent times, physics and astrophysics have played a central role in shaping the understanding of the universe through scientific observation and experiment. What is known as physical cosmology shaped through both mathematics and observation the analysis of the whole universe. It is generally understood to begin with the Big Bang, followed almost instantaneously by cosmic inflation - an expansion of space from which the universe is thought to have emerged ~13.7±0.2×109 (roughly 13.5–13.9 billion) years ago.[3]

Physical cosmologists propose that the history of the universe has been governed entirely by physical laws. Such theories of an impersonal universe governed by physical laws were first proposed by Roger Bacon. Citation needed] between the domains of religion and science stands the philosophical perspective of metaphysical cosmology. This ancient field of study seeks to draw intuitive conclusions about the nature of the universe, man, a supernatural creator, and/or their relationships based on the extension of some set of presumed facts borrowed from spiritual experience and/or observation.

Metaphysical cosmology has also been described as the placing of man in the universe in relationship to all other entities. This is exemplified by the observation made by Marcus Aurelius of a man's place in that relationship: "He who does not know what the world is does not know where he is, and he who does not know for what purpose the world exists, does not know who he is, nor what the world is."[4]

Cosmology is often an important aspect of the creation myths of religions that seek to explain the existence and nature of reality. In some cases, views about the creation (cosmogony) and destruction (eschatology) of the universe play a central role in shaping a framework of religious cosmology for understanding humanity's role in the universe.

A more contemporary distinction between religion and philosophy, esoteric cosmology is distinguished from religion in its less tradition-bound construction and reliance on modern "intellectual understanding" rather than faith, and from philosophy in its emphasis on spirituality as a formative concept.

Further information: Timeline of cosmology

Name    Author and date               Classification      Remarks

Brahmanda (Hindu Cosmology) Hindu Rigveda (unknown BC)    Cyclical or oscillating, Infinite in time

Babylonian cosmology   Babylonian literature and Old Testament (3000–500 BC)                Flat earth floating in infinite "waters of chaos"             The Earth and the Heavens form a unit within infinite "waters of chaos"; the earth is flat and circular, and a solid dome (the "firmament") keeps out the outer "chaos"-ocean.

Atomist universe             Anaxagoras (500–428 BC) & later Epicurus            Infinite in extent              the universe contains only two things: an infinite number of tiny seeds, or atoms, and the void of infinite extent. All atoms are made of the same substance, but differ in size and shape. Objects are formed from atom aggregations and decay back into atoms. Incorporates Leucippus' principle of causality: "nothing happens at random; everything happens out of reason and necessity." The universe was not ruled by gods.

Pythagorean universe   Philolaus (d. 390 BC)       Existence of a "Central Fire" at the center of the Universe.          At the center of the Universe is a central fire, around which the Earth, Sun, Moon and planets revolve uniformly. The Sun revolves around the central fire once a year, the stars are immobile. The earth in its motion maintains the same hidden face towards the central fire, hence it is never seen. This is the first known non-geocentric model of the Universe.

Stoic universe    Stoics (300 BC - 200 AD) Island universe The cosmos is finite and surrounded by an infinite void. It is in a state of flux, as it pulsates in size and periodically passes through upheavals and conflagrations.

Aristotelian universe      Aristotle (384–322 BC)   Geocentric, static, steady state, finite extent, infinite time           Spherical earth is surrounded by concentric celestial spheres. Universe exists unchanged throughout eternity. Contains a fifth element, called aether (later known as quintessence), added to the four Classical elements.

Aristarchean universe    Aristarchus (circa 280 BC)              Heliocentric        Earth rotates daily on its axis and revolves annually about the sun in a circular orbit. Sphere of fixed stars is centered about the sun.

Ptolemaic model (based on Aristotelian universe)            Ptolemy (2nd century AD)           Geocentric          Universe orbits about a stationary Earth. Planets move in circular epicycles, each having a center that moved in a larger circular orbit (called an eccentric or a deferent) around a center-point near the Earth. The use of equants added another level of complexity and allowed astronomers to predict the positions of the planets. The most successful universe model of all time, using the criterion of longevity. Almagest (the Great System).

Aryabhatan model          Aryabhata (499)                Geocentric or Heliocentric           The Earth rotates and the planets move in elliptical orbits, possibly around either the Earth or the Sun. It is uncertain whether the model is geocentric or heliocentric due to planetary orbits given with respect to both the Earth and the Sun.

Medieval universe          Medieval philosophers (500–1200)          Finite in time      A universe that is finite in time and has a beginning is proposed by the Christian philosopher, John Philoponus, who argues against the ancient Greek notion of an infinite past. Logical arguments supporting a finite universe are developed by the early Muslim philosopher Alkindus, the Jewish philosopher Saadia Gaon and the Muslim theologian Algazel.

Multiversal cosmology   Fakhr al-Din al-Razi (1149–1209)                Multiverse, multiple worlds & universes               There exists an infinite outer space beyond the known world, and God has the power to fill the vacuum with an infinite number of universes.

Maragha models              Maragha school (1259–1528)      Geocentric          Various modifications to Ptolemaic model and Aristotelian universe, including rejection of equant and eccentrics at Maragheh observatory, and introduction of Tusi-couple by Al-Tusi. Alternative models later proposed, including the first accurate lunar model by Ibn al-Shatir, a model rejecting stationary Earth in favor of Earth's rotation by Ali Kuçu, and planetary model incorporating "circular inertia" by Al-Birjandi.

Nilakanthan model          Nilakantha Somayaji (1444–1544)             Geocentric and Heliocentric        A universe in which the planets orbit the Sun and the Sun orbits the Earth, similar to the later Tychonic system.

Copernican universe      Nicolaus Copernicus (1473–1543)              Heliocentric with circular planetary orbits              First clearly described heliocentric model, in De revolutionibus orbium coelestium.

Tychonic system               Tycho Brahe (1546–1601)             Geocentric and Heliocentric        A universe in which the planets orbit the Sun and the Sun orbits the Earth, similar to the earlier Nilakanthan model.

Keplerian             Johann Kepler (1571–1630)         Heliocentric with elliptical planetary orbits            Kepler's discoveries, marrying mathematics and physics, provided the foundation for our present conception of the Solar system, but distant stars were still seen as objects in a thin, fixed celestial sphere.
Static Newtonian             Sir Isaac Newton (1642–1727)     Static (evolving), steady state, infinite    Every particle in the universe attracts every other particle. Matter on the large scale is uniformly distributed. Gravitationally balanced but unstable.

Cartesian Vortex universe           René Descartes
17th century

Static (evolving), steady state, infinite    A system of huge swirling whirlpools of aethereal or fine matter produces what we would call gravitational effects. His vacuum was not empty. All space was filled with matter that swirled around in large and small vortices.

Hierarchical universe      Immanuel Kant, Johann Lambert 18th century   Static (evolving), steady state, infinite    Matter is clustered on ever larger scales of hierarchy. Matter is endlessly being recycled.

Einstein Universe with a cosmological constant  Albert Einstein 1917        Static (nominally). Bounded (finite)         "Matter without motion." Contains uniformly distributed matter. Uniformly curved spherical space; based on Riemann's hypersphere. Curvature is set equal to Λ. In effect Λ is equivalent to a repulsive force which counteracts gravity. Unstable.

De Sitter universe            Willem de Sitter 1917     Expanding flat space.

Steady state. Λ > 0
"Motion without matter." Only apparently static. Based on Einstein's General Relativity. Space expands with constant acceleration. Scale factor (radius of universe) increases exponentially, i.e. constant inflation.

MacMillan universe        William Duncan MacMillan 1920s
 Static & steady state

New matter is created from radiation. Starlight is perpetually recycled into new matter particles.

Friedmann universe of spherical space  Alexander Friedmann 1922          Spherical expanding space.

k= +1 ; no Λ

Positive curvature. Curvature constant k = +1

Expands then recollapses. Spatially closed (finite).

Friedmann universe of hyperbolic space               Alexander Friedmann 1924          Hyperbolic expanding space.

k= -1 ; no Λ

Negative curvature. Said to be infinite (but ambiguous). Unbounded. Expands forever.

Dirac large numbers hypothesis                Paul Dirac 1930s                Expanding           Demands a large variation in G, which decreases with time. Gravity weakens as universe evolves.

Friedmann zero-curvature, a.k.a. the Einstein-DeSitter universe               Einstein & DeSitter 1932                Expanding flat space.

k= 0 ; Λ = 0 Critical density

Curvature constant k = 0. Said to be infinite (but ambiguous). 'Unbounded cosmos of limited extent.' Expands forever. 'Simplest' of all known universes. Named after but not considered by Friedmann. Has a deceleration term q =½ which means that its expansion rate slows down.

The original Big Bang. a.k.a. Friedmann-Lemaître Model                Georges Lemaître 1927–29          Expansion

Λ > 0 Λ > |Gravity|

Λ is positive and has a magnitude greater than Gravity. Universe has initial high density state ('primeval atom'). Followed by a two stage expansion. Λ is used to destabilize the universe. (Lemaître is considered to be the father of the big bang model.)

Oscillating universe

(a.k.a. Friedmann-Einstein; was latter's 1st choice after rejecting his own 1917 model)

Favored by Friedmann

1920s

Expanding and contracting in cycles         Time is endless and beginningless; thus avoids the beginning-of-time paradox. Perpetual cycles of big bang followed by big crunch.

Eddington           Arthur Eddington 1930   First Static

then Expands

Static Einstein 1917 universe with its instability disturbed into expansion mode; with relentless matter dilution becomes a DeSitter universe. Λ dominates gravity.

Milne universe of kinematic relativity     Edward Milne, 1933, 1935;

William H. McCrea, 1930s

Kinematic expansion with NO space expansion  Rejects general relativity and the expanding space paradigm. Gravity not included as initial assumption. Obeys cosmological principle & rules of special relativity. The Milne expanding universe consists of a finite spherical cloud of particles (or galaxies) that expands WITHIN flat space which is infinite and otherwise empty. It has a center and a cosmic edge (the surface of the particle cloud) which expands at light speed. His explanation of gravity was elaborate and unconvincing. For instance, his universe has an infinite number of particles, hence infinite mass, within a finite cosmic volume.

Friedmann-Lemaître-Robertson-Walker class of models                Howard Robertson, Arthur Walker, 1935               Uniformly expanding           Class of universes that are homogenous and isotropic. Spacetime separates into uniformly curved space and cosmic time common to all comoving observers. The formulation system is now known as the FLRW or Robertson-Walker metrics of cosmic time and curved space.

Steady-state expanding (Bondi & Gold) Herman Bondi, Thomas Gold 1948            Expanding, steady state, infinite                Matter creation rate maintains constant density. Continuous creation out of nothing from nowhere. Exponential expansion. Deceleration term q = -1.

Steady-state expanding (Hoyle)                Fred Hoyle 1948                Expanding, steady state; but unstable    Matter creation rate maintains constant density. But since matter creation rate must be exactly balanced with the space expansion rate the system is unstable.

Ambiplasma       Hannes Alfvén 1965 Oskar Klein                Cellular universe, expanding by means of matter-antimatter annihilation        Based on the concept of plasma cosmology. The universe is viewed as meta-galaxies divided by double layers —hence its bubble-like nature. Other universes are formed from other bubbles. Ongoing cosmic matter-antimatter annihilations keep the bubbles separated and moving apart preventing them from interacting.

Brans-Dicke        Carl H. Brans; Robert H. Dicke     Expanding           Based on Mach's principle. G varies with time as universe expands. "But nobody is quite sure what Mach's principle actually means."[citation needed]

Cosmic inflation                Alan Guth 1980 Big Bang with modification to solve horizon problem and flatness problem.                Based on the concept of hot inflation. The universe is viewed as a multiple quantum flux —hence its bubble-like nature. Other universes are formed from other bubbles. Ongoing cosmic expansion kept the bubbles separated and moving apart preventing them from interacting.

Eternal Inflation (a multiple universe model)       Andreï Linde 1983            Big Bang with cosmic inflation     A multiverse, based on the concept of cold inflation, in which inflationary events occur at random each with independent initial conditions; some expand into bubble universes supposedly like our entire cosmos. Bubbles nucleate in a spacetime foam.

Cyclic model       Paul Steinhardt; Neil Turok 2002                Expanding and contracting in cycles; M theory.  Two parallel orbifold planes or M-branes collide periodically in a higher dimensional space. With quintessence or dark energy

Cyclic model       Lauris Baum;Paul Frampton 2007              Solution of Tolman's entropy problem   Phantom dark energy fragments universe into large number of disconnected patches. Our patch contracts containing only dark energy with zero entropy.

Table notes: the term "static" simply means not expanding and not contracting. Symbol G represents Newton's gravitational constant; Λ (Lambda) is the cosmological constant.

Physical cosmology

Main article: Physical cosmology

Physical cosmology is the branch of physics and astrophysics that deals with the study of the physical origins and evolution of the Universe. It also includes the study of the nature of the Universe on its very largest scales. In its earliest form it was what is now known as celestial mechanics, the study of the heavens. The Greek philosophers Aristarchus of Samos, Aristotle and Ptolemy proposed different cosmological theories. In particular, the geocentric Ptolemaic system was the accepted theory to explain the motion of the heavens until Nicolaus Copernicus, and subsequently Johannes Kepler and Galileo Galilei proposed a heliocentric system in the 16th century. This is known as one of the most famous examples of epistemological rupture in physical cosmology.

With Isaac Newton and the 1687 publication of Principia Mathematica, the problem of the motion of the heavens was finally solved. Newton provided a physical mechanism for Kepler's laws and his law of universal gravitation allowed the anomalies in previous systems, caused by gravitational interaction between the planets, to be resolved. A fundamental difference between Newton's cosmology and those preceding it was the Copernican principle that the bodies on earth obey the same physical laws as all the celestial bodies. This was a crucial philosophical advance in physical cosmology.

Modern scientific cosmology is usually considered to have begun in 1917 with Albert Einstein's publication of his final modification of general relativity in the paper "Cosmological Considerations of the General Theory of Relativity," (although this paper was not widely available outside of Germany until the end of World War I). General relativity prompted cosmogonists such as Willem de Sitter, Karl Schwarzschild and Arthur Eddington to explore the astronomical consequences of the theory, which enhanced the growing ability of astronomers to study very distant objects. Prior to this (and for some time afterwards), physicists assumed that the Universe was static and unchanging.

In parallel to this dynamic approach to cosmology, one long-standing debate about the structure of the cosmos was coming to a climax. Mount Wilson astronomer Harlow Shapley championed the model of a cosmos made up of the Milky Way star system only ; while Heber D. Curtis argued for the idea that spiral nebulae were star systems in their own right – island universes. This difference of ideas came to a climax with the organization of the Great Debate at the meeting of the (US) National Academy of Sciences in Washington on 26 April 1920. The resolution of this debate came with the detection of novae in the Andromeda galaxy by Edwin Hubble in 1923 and 1924. Their distance established spiral nebulae well beyond the edge of the Milky Way and has galaxies of their own.

Subsequent modeling of the universe explored the possibility that the cosmological constant introduced by Einstein in his 1917 paper may result in an expanding universe, depending on its value. Thus the big bang model was proposed by the Belgian priest Georges Lemaître in 1927 which was subsequently corroborated by Edwin Hubble's discovery of the red shift in 1929 and later by the discovery of the cosmic microwave background radiation by Arno Penzias and Robert Woodrow Wilson in 1964. These findings were a first step to rule out some of many alternative physical cosmologies.

Recent observations made by the COBE and WMAP satellites observing this background radiation have effectively, in many scientists' eyes, transformed cosmology from a highly speculative science into a predictive science, as these observations matched predictions made by a theory called Cosmic inflation, which is a modification of the standard big bang model. This has led many to refer to modern times as the "Golden age of cosmology."[6]

Metaphysical cosmology

See also: Religious cosmology

In philosophy and metaphysics, cosmology deals with the world as the totality of space, time and all phenomena. Historically, it has had quite a broad scope, and in many cases was founded in religion. The ancient Greeks did not draw a distinction between this use and their model for the cosmos. However, in modern use it addresses questions about the Universe which are beyond the scope of science. It is distinguished from religious cosmology in that it approaches these questions using philosophical methods (e.g. dialectics). Modern metaphysical cosmology tries to address questions such as:

What is the origin of the Universe? What is its first cause? Is its existence necessary? (see monism, pantheism, emanationism and creationism)

What are the ultimate material components of the Universe? (see mechanism, dynamism, hylomorphism, atomism)

What is the ultimate reason for the existence of the Universe? Does the cosmos have a purpose? (see teleology)

Does the existence of consciousness have a purpose? How do we know what we know about the totality of the cosmos? Does cosmological reasoning reveal metaphysical truths? (see epistemology)
